Gnomus

Victor liked carving shapes and faces in wood.

He carved a wooden nutcracker with a nasty-looking gnome’s head.

Mussorgsky writes very sinister music for the gnome.

Perhaps he hides deep in a forest, amongst twisted branches and tree roots?
