Name: Landscape

He got the idea for the wooden arch from Japanese Shinto shrines. These rise out of the sea.

Mike felt something might be hung from top of his arch. He made a circle from driftwood.

Old paint stains, shapes and knots in the wood gave Mike the idea of a landscape painting.

The grain in the wood suggested water and its reflection.

Old boat paint (top right hand corner) suggested a cloud.

Once Mike had finished the construction, he realised it looked like a gong!
